QRP / Re: a few qso since new year

That's good Pierre considering that propagation has not been good.
I've managed to work - LZ1QI and NI3P on 17m and WA8REI on 20m, all with 5 Watts but it is hard going!

Update-
My 5W was being picked up by VE6WZ in Alberta on the RBN this afternoon. SNR at 4dB was not great though.

Welcome to the Club / Re: A (re)introduction from Arizona

Hi, Dave....

I may do that. I just got my hands of a Hendricks PFR-3 (40, 30 and 20M), so I will need antennas for at least those 3 bands. I would prefer to build my own, as opposed to just buying one.    ;)
Also, I ran a small group call the Amateur Radio Portable Operations Group for several years. I ahve seriously been considering reactivating the group..... more on that as it happens.

QRP Club Cup / Re: QRP Club Cup 2016: Results
« Last post by KA0USE on January 09, 2018, 07:49:10 UTC »
these are fun-looking, almost whimsical.
more interesting than ones that look like eton university, uni heidelberg, harvard, or yale degrees.

not pompous.

of course, theirs cost far more!

Telegraphy / Re: Brown Brothers Paddle
« Last post by KA0USE on January 09, 2018, 07:41:06 UTC »
i REALLY need to get a new brain.
how my brain works- i like the nautical theme- plank owners, ranks, etc. there's a masthead, very nautical. i'm thinking of all things being nautical, so-
i read about this paddle thing trophy and think it a paddle for a canoe!
i cannot believe i am allowed to walk in public.
and until earlier this past summer i did, in fact, own a very nice canoe, and yes, i did have paddles for it. they were not brown, nor did they have bases. they did look nice, though, even though they were not ash, hickory, yew or cedar. they were aluminum/aluminium with plastic blades.

i have a headache....

OK Nicola. I had guessed that might be the case as it must take a great deal of time to check reports.
