Title: Unusually good propagation this evening. JA with 5 W
Post by: GM0LVI on May 04, 2016, 21:34:55 UTC
An interesting day today. First there was a bit of sporadic E on 50 Mhz and I managed a few new squares in EU, though was running 70W, not QRP.
Then as I usually do of an evening I put out my 5 Watts into the quad pointing to NA, I could see on the RBN that I was getting there and managed a qso with 599 both ways with KN6CZZ. Shortly after I completed the qso two stations called me and I managed to make out an 'LC' in one call so sent 'LC ?' and just about fell off my chair when JA6LCY Yuki came back with a 599 report. That was particularly impressive as when he first heard me the quad was pointing to NA and he was on the side of it! Next in the log was Stefan SM6NZA and we were both running 5 Watts but were 599++ both ways.

Magic happens!!

Hi Pierre. Yes I was /P on the Isle of Skye at the time.
I head off today to our west coast and will be QRV for about a week from a campsite near Mallaig.
