Just wanted to give a introduction about myself to the group. My name is Cliff and I am located about 65 miles (104 kilometers) NW of Charlotte, NC on a small mountain called Barrett's Mountain at 1,434 feet (437 meters) above sea level. I am a member of the North American QRP CW Club (NAQCC #1491), Flying Pigs QRP International #1183, the 4 State QRP Group (4SQRP #536), and RadioClub72 #46. For QRP operating I just turn my Yaesu FT-1000MP Mark V down to 5 watts output into a 260 feet (79.24 meters) long doublet antenna up 40 feet (12 meters) high when operating from home. I sometimes use a Solarcon A-99 (Antron 99) vertical up 30 feet (9.14 meters) high on the 10 through 17 meter bands. For portable ops I use either a Hendricks PFR-3A or a Ten-Tec R4020 and for my portable antenna I use either a 66 feet (20 meter) dipole fed with 450 ohm ladder line or a 42 feet (12 meter) long end fed vertical wire. I don't work any SSB QRP, CW only as far as QRP operating goes. The Hendricks PFR-3A radio has a manual antenna tuner built right in, but I carry a Emtech ZM-2 QRP antenna tuner I built from a kit with the Ten-Tec R4020 radio. I have many photos of my radio gear on my QRZ profile at http://www.qrz.com/db/KU4GW if you'd like to check them out sometime. I hope to catch some of you guys on the air soon!
