Title: FT8 and T10
Post by: DF5WW on September 15, 2017, 07:16:37 UTC
Since a few weeks we have 2 new digital modes. It´s T10, provided by the JTDX Software, and FT8, provided by the latest versions of WSJT-X. Both modes are meanwhile accepted by LotW and eQSL and both are in the actual ADIF specs .....

T10 is a mode with a small bandwidth with RX(TX intervals of a minute like all other JT Modes but FT8 is a vy fast mode with 15s periodes and after the first hit on a CQ calling station the rest of the contact are managed automatted by the software.

Ich checked out both and meanwhile i prefer FT8. within a bit more than 1 minute you can handle a complete QSO instead of 5-6 minutes by other JT modes Like JT65/9 or T10.

Lot of stations are QRV in FT8 and i think it´s a good QRP mode too. Have worked some overseas stations and i was spotted several times in VK/ZL with our club call DL0AK. Using here mostly 5-10 W into a 2 x 6,5 m Doublet with twisted wire as feedline.

Give it a try if you are interessed in digital modes ...
