Title: Proposal of a new Member of Honour
Post by: G0BVZ on January 20, 2014, 14:28:54 UTC
I wish to propose Peter Martinez G3PLX for consideration as a Member of Honour.

His introduction of PSK31 to the amateur radio digital modes has added a mode ideal for those who support the principles of qrp.   Low fat and high fibre, PSK31 is narrow band, fault tolerant and ideal for qrp stations using simple, classic antennas.

Because this mode is not hamstrung by tight error checking, it is fast enough for real time QSO: the genius of PSK31 is that it allows errors, so unpleasantly long processing delays are obviated: when condx are  reasonable, QSOs are not unnecessarily delayed by tight error checking routines. This is a Good Thing.

From a personal standpoint, PSK is very interesting because I am quite deaf.  If the day comes when I can no longer hear CW, PSK31 will allow me -and those like me- to continue to operate in line with QRP principles.

Honourable members of QRP Club,  please support this proposal.

I support the proposal, it is wery well used mode and gives also beginners possibilites to get qso,s with low power and interfered in enviorment that ssb is useless. Ofcourse cw is simpler in its nature.

"... Of course cw is simpler in its nature."  and as I often say, there is great merit in simplicity.  :-)
