Hi Michel! Interesting links you posted. I doubt if 817 owners will be rushing to 'upgrade' as there doesn't appear to be a great deal to gain over the current 817s.
I enjoyed my 817 when I had one, but found the cw filtering too wide on busy bands. It was a very good all bands radio though.

Hi! all,
Well, it is not a joke nor a Rumor, it is officially on sale in major ham radio store, such as Radio World in Toronto Canada.-
It is a real keeper and the most complete transceiver on the market. I work the world with it for 18 years now, with no issues.
But, it would have been fun to find in that new one, a roofing filter like the one into the KX3 from Elecraft and the automatic antenna tuner 10:1.
Probably in a ral new model in the future ?
