Title: New to QRP!

Hi All

I am new to QRP and have built an Elecraft K1, which I enjoyed doing.

Now to get out portable on the beach and give it a try!

Hello Barry,

Welcome to this friendly QRP Club, and congrats for you fine & fun K1.

Definitely to operate portable on the beach is fun and as you may know, salt water is a real good amplifier for our peanut whistle. It is nearly 10 Db more, plus another 10 dB because of your prefix.

The Elecraft K1 is also very economic in curreent drain on the batteries, so it means many hours of fun chaqsing DX.

What will you use as antenna, on the beach ?

I suggest a vertical with one radial, as I always use with great success. Like Buddipole which is the perfect match.

I would be very glad to work you some day on the air.
